The “Thin Blue Line” emblem, decal, or plate, are often seen on vehicles — near the license tag or rear window — and implies that the operator or owner is either an active or retired law enforcement officer, the relative of one, or a soon to be sworn in officer. Proponents state that the identifier is for notifying other officers that the occupant of the vehicle may be law enforcement and possibly armed.
